The Surfaces of Understanding @ Ferens Art Gallery in Hull

On Wednesday (7th January 2015) I’m installing my new piece The Surfaces of Understanding at the Ferens Art Gallery. It is a 3D audio video piece presenting an integrated portrait of five different people. It will be in the foyer of the Live Art Space and is free.

Skin and facial health therapist Dr Katerina Steventon has provided an accompanying guide to the piece which encourages participants to make links between the installation and other works in the Ferens’ collection.

The Surfaces of Understanding

I was happy to present my new immersive video piece at the Thinking With John Berger conference in Cardiff this week. I got some lovely feedback – including a spontaneous hug. This is the start of a longer term project looking at virtual reality technology and the representation of subjectivity. I am looking forward to installing the piece in the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull at the start of 2015.
